ScienTec gets off to a roaring start

28 Feb

The ScienTec family got together for the annual KickStart event at the Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay hotel on Jan 14.

This year’s event saw an unprecedented 36 annual awards given to well-deserving performers in sales, projects, as well as special contributions for brand values and service qualities. New awards such as Social Champion, among others, were added as well to reward even more innovation and on-ground initiatives.

However, in the midst of the good news comes a bittersweet announcement. After 17 years of starting and running ScienTec Consulting, Chief Executive Officer Karen Tok will be handing the reins over to the newly minted Head of Business Cecilia Sim.

Ms Tok shared the reasons why she and the board decided to promote Ms Sim to lead the next leg of ScienTec Consulting’s growth. “Having a clear mindset on quality service and embracing our ’people first’ core value are the key qualities I look for, among others such as domain knowledge and technical competencies. ScienTec’s success is the result of our emphasis on the company’s core values. These values guide our business decision makings, form our corporate culture, and set a clear path on how we interact with our clients, our candidates, our employees and our community.

“We had interviewed a couple of external candidates as well and Cecilia provided the closest fit. Cecilia has a proven track record for high standards in customer service quality, she is committed to results and has deep domain knowledge. She is also very passionate about the recruitment industry. These are rare qualities we do not see often,” said Ms Tok.

Transitions like change of commands are not easy for all stakeholders involved and we have made plans for various training and courses to speed this process up, added Ms Tok.

Ms Cecilia Sim added: “The role is demanding and the pressure is very real! But I told myself I needed to grow. And growth happens when you challenge yourself outside the comfort zone. So, I shall dedicate myself to the role and do my best and grow with the fellow team members in ScienTec.”

Ms Sim then shared a thoughtfully crafted business strategy and announced the expanded team structure in view of the steady
double digit growth projection for the coming years.

The well-balanced strategy to grow revenue and profit, integrating external client’s needs via internal operations excellence as the guiding roadmap was presented to the team members. A strong emphasis was given to groom internal talent through various learning and development opportunities and Ms Sim urged everyone to stay on course and continue to work closely and support each other.

“2017 looks to be a breakthrough year, with new innovations and expanded teams and exciting goals. Together, we will work together to achieve the set targets,” enthused Ms Sim.

The event continued over lively exchanges as Ms Tok, Ms Sim and other team leaders shared key learnings from 2016 as well as exciting new initiatives to look forward to in 2017.

The ScienTec Consulting family ended the day on a high note as they bonded over a scrumptious lunch.
